An aligned body improves your performance
To improve
performance in sport and avoid injuries, athletes learn to become aware of the
shape of the body in relation to the Earth's gravitational field, to discover
the tensions by which they are kept in a forced equilibrium and to release them
to find a support-based balance.
The habitual
tensions that were generated while we were developing and learning to be in the
world and move in life, are not usually accessible with physical exercise
alone. By training, we can develop enough strength to overcome it but, deep
down, those holding patterns remain active, without being able to participate
in the achievement of our goal and, often, undermining our efforts. In this
way, injuries easily occur.
Sensory awareness allows us to find, moment by moment, the best way to move
in relation to the gravitational force. Receiving the support available on the
floor at all times allows bodily functions to flow more easily, hydrating the
dry tissues of muscles and fasciae and nourishing the nervous system with
sensory information that allows access to the centers that maintain the usual
tension and encourage them to release unnecessary tension.
